Hi, I’m Jenna O’Brien, a 23 year old artist the and former owner of the indie brand, Twenty Seven! I was diagnosed with a mood disorder in college, and I sought out creativity as a way to both cope with & bring awareness to mental illness.
I started selling artwork in college, eventually branching into apparel, vegan nail polish, stationery, and the crowning glory of the brand - loose leaf tea blends.
Unfortunately, the shop was only open a short time before the pandemic hit hard. I made the impossible decision to close up shop through out the never-ending process of trying to keep a young business alive in the midst of the pandemic. I thought it was all over…until….
A local business owner reached out and wanted to continue the line of loose leaf teas, with my help! This partnership allows me to do everything I loved about the tea – branding, tea selection, creative direction, etc. – while my partners handle all of the operations. Win, win!

FAQs
Why loose leaf tea?
The short answer is loose-leaf tea is almost always much higher quality than tea bags. It stays fresher longer, has fuller flavor without bitterness or astringency, and it offers you the ability to scale your recipes up or down to suit your needs! Loose leaf tea is SO worth the extra effort!
When will my order ship?
We ship orders every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday unless you are notified otherwise. The only reason a shipment would be delayed is if an item in your order is on backorder, or if your order is placed on a holiday. However, we will always reach out if we anticipate delays!
How many cups does one bag make?
At a minimum, you can expect each bag to make about 14-15 cups of tea. However, since we use high-quality loose leaf teas, you have the ability to re-steep teas with only marginal loss of flavor intensity.
How do you source/create the teas?
We typically start with a general flavor profile and/or a feeling we want to achieve. From there, we decide which type of tea (black, green, etc.) would be the best base for the tea, and build from there. We sample tons of options before landing on our final blends.
What do I need to brew loose leaf tea?
It doesn’t take much! You really only need filtered water, an infuser of some sort, a scale, and (of course) really delicious tea to brew a great cup! However, if you’re interested in elevating your at-home tea game, check out our blog and sign up for our email list for tips, tricks, and recipes!
Are the teas caffeinated?
Not all of them! If you’re looking for something with no caffeine, shop our herbal teas (also known as tisanes). We make sure to carry a variety of caffeine-free teas so everyone has the ability to enjoy something.
